First-time unemployment drops

In the week ended April 19, 342,000 Americans filed for unemployment insurance benefits for the first time, according to the U.S. Department of Labor.

That’s a decrease of 33,000 from the previous week’s revised figure of 375,000. The 4-week moving average was 369,500, a decrease of 7,250 from the previous week.
