Avelo Airlines launched service to its second Florida destination on Friday with a 9 a.m. flight to Fort Lauderdale from Tweed New Haven Airport.
Flight 323 was nearly full, according to a statement from the airline, with tickets starting at $49 each way. For Lauderdale flights are scheduled to depart from Tweed (HVN) Thursday through Monday, leaving at 9 a.m. and arriving at 12:10 pm. Returning flights leave Florida at 12:50 p.m. and arrive at 3:40 p.m.
Avelo CEO Andrew Levy said, “Today’s first flight to Fort Lauderdale is an exciting bookend to this historic week.”
The airline’s first-ever flight from Tweed, its East Coast hub, took off for Orlando on Wednesday after a jubilant ceremony on the tarmac. Avelo plans to expand its fleet of 737 700 aircraft at Tweed to fly to six Florida destinations by this winter.
Tweed-New Haven Airport Executive Director Sean Scanlon said, “The energy here at the airport and in the community in the last few days has been incredible as we kick off a new and more vibrant era at HVN.”
