The federal Health Resources and Service Administration has funded East Hartford-based First Choice Health Centers’ Federally Qualified Health Center for an additional three years, totaling more than $8 million, First Choice announced recently.
The money allow First Choice to offer a sliding fee discount for eligible patients and funds several clinical departments, including optometry, podiatry, behavioral health, substance abuse services, obstetrics and gynecology, dental, infectious disease, pediatrics, and internal and family medicine.
First Choice, which serves more than 21,000 patients a year, has 15 locations and serves more than 60 schools in East Hartford, Manchester and Vernon.
Earlier this month, First Choice celebrated the opening of a new Community Health Center in Vernon, at 94 Union St., where it offers primary medical care and behavioral healthcare services.
