A New England biomass company Monday inked an agreement with a Spanish corporation to obtain and develop biomass power plants in Connecticut and throughout the Northeast region.
New Hampshire-based Clean Power Development, LLC sign the agreement with Gestamp Biomass to explore biomass options in Connecticut, as well as Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, New York and Pennsylvania.
Clean Power will identify the facilities, and Gestamp will provide the equity and the balance of plant funding for all the potential projects.
It is anticipated that the eight-state region will collectively provide as much as 180 megawatts of new biomass potential that can be developed by the Gestamp/Clean Power team through environmentally and socially responsible development of high-efficiency projects, according to Clean Power’s press release.
The first project will be a 29-megawatt biomass facility in Berlin, N.H.
