Grace Figueredo, who oversaw diversity for United Technologies Corp. in Hartford, is moving cross town to lead the same initiative at Hartford Financial Services Group Inc., starting Monday.
Figueredo, 52, is The Hartford’s new vice president of diversity and inclusion. She reports to Eileen Whelley, executive vice president of human resources at The Hartford.
“Grace is a welcome addition to our team as we further build and energize our diverse work force,” Whelley said in a statement.
In her role, Figueredo will be a strategic leader in advancing diversity, inclusion and cultural awareness at The Hartford. She will be accountable for developing strategies that drive employee engagement and extend contemporary work practices to meet the needs of the business and employees.
At UTC, Figueredo was director of workforce diversity. The parent of Pratt & Whitney, Carrier, Otis Elevator, among other divisions, did not immediately respond as to whether her replacement is being sought.
She has a master’s degree in organization behavior from the University of Hartford and an undergraduate degree in Spanish and secondary education from Queens College of the City University of New York.
Figueredo is on the board of the Connecticut Women’s Legal and Education Fund.
