Connecticut has three fewer names on a 2011 regional list of the nation’s top consumer brands.
Bristol sports programming king ESPN kept its No. 1 spot on the Protobrand second annual ranking of the top 25 New England brands.
Connecticut had nine companies on last year’s ranking.
This year, Milford-based Subway moved up to No. 2, supplanting Dunkin’ Donuts of Canton, Mass., from its 2010 perch. It dropped to No. 4, the same spot Subway had last year.
Other Connecticut brands on the list: No. 3 General Electric Co. of Fairfield; No. 13 Duracell of Bethel; No. 19 Priceline.com of Norwalk; and No. 20 Stanley Black & Decker of New Britain.
Failing to make this year’s ranking were big, familiar names (last year’s rank): Xerox (No. 13); Ethan Allen Interiors (No. 16); Yankee Candle (No. 22); World Wrestling Entertainment (No. 23); Hartford Financial Services Group Inc. (No. 24); and Timex in Middlebury (No. 25).
