Connecticut authorities say a bus-only commuter service linking New Britain and Hartford is slated to receive $45 million in federal funds.
The Federal Transit Administration is scheduled to announce budget recommendations Tuesday for more than a dozen projects.
Representatives of Connecticut’s Department of Transportation and Gov. M. Jodi Rell say they were told the package includes $45 million for the 9.4-mile bus corridor.
The $569 million project has been in and out of favor with the federal government over the years. Its scheduled completion date has been delayed several times, mostly over funding concerns.
The plan is designed to relieve congestion on Interstate 84. Up to 11 stations would be built in Hartford, West Hartford, Newington and New Britain. (AP)
