Feds soliciting MBDA center operators for B’port, et al

The federal Commerce Department is soliciting candidates to run a minority business development center either in Bridgeport or five other U.S. locations.

The department’s Minority Business Development Agency (MBDA) has centers catering to American Indian or Alaska natives who are or want to go into business for themselves.

The agency is dangling a four-year grant valued at $255,000 annually to run what would be the newest among 30 MBDA business centers in the U.S. and Puerto Rico. There are an estimated 200,000 indigenous American businesses that generate nearly $27 billion in annual revenue, authorities said.

Eligible to apply are for-profit entities (including but not limited to sole-proprietorships, partnerships, limited liability companies and corporations), nonprofits, state and local government entities, American Indian Tribes and educational institutions

Application deadline is June 22.
