The nation’s winter cold has prompted the federal government to boost its fiscal-year allocation to $95.7 million to warm Connecticut’s’ low-income households.
The federal Health and Human Services agency provides funds to Connecticut and other states under the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP).
The program offsets needy families’ energy costs stay warm in winter and cool in summer, and assists with cost of insulating their homes to make them more energy efficient.
