The federal government is awarding seven Connecticut school-based health centers a total of nearly $2 million to expand and provide more health care services at area schools.
The funding comes from the Affordable Care Act, and aims to improve the overall health and wellness of children by providing funds for health screenings, health promotion and disease prevention activities and enable kids with acute or chronic illness to attend school.
Among the Connecticut recipients are Charter Oak Health Center in Hartford ($500,000); Child and Family Agency of Southeastern Connecticut in New London ($436,237); Greenwich-based Family Centers Inc. ($150,524); Optimus Health Care Inc. in Bridgeport ($309,429); Yale-New Haven Hospital ($392,460); Quinnipiac Valley Health District in North Haven ($15,739); and Bridgeport-based Community Health Center ($166,348).
