Community Health Center Inc. will break ground on a new Middletown health facility within 30 days after getting $7 million in federal money to build, officials say.
The money for the $17 million state-of-the-art facility came from  the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services under the Affordable Care Act, officials said Friday.
In July, the state approved $2.5 million in bond money for the three-story, 48,000-square-foot  center to be located on the corner of Main and Grand streets. The space currently houses a parking lot owned by the city.
The rest of the construction budget will come from private financing, a spokeswoman said.
Robert Olson & Associates Architects and PAC Group LLC are the project’s designers and  builders.
The facility will employ 21 full-time health care providers, while more than 150 workers will be involved in the construction, officials said.
