Feds award $500K to two CT health centers

Two health centers in Connecticut will share $500,000 from the federal government to pay for new construction and renovations, the Department of Health and Human Services announced.

Cornell Scott – Hill Health Corp. in New Haven and Optimus Health Care Inc. will each receive $250,000.

The money will be used to improve services to low-income patients and to further the patient centered medical home delivery model, which uses doctor coordination to produce better health outcomes.

The Affordable Care Act provided $11 billion to health centers to meet an increase in demand for primary care among underinsured and underserved populations.
