FedEx Ground, which recently opened a 600,000-square-foot distribution hub in Middletown, says it’s adding 1,000 workers there for the holiday season.
FedEx, of Memphis, Tenn., says it will add the seasonal positions in Connecticut as part of a national hiring effort to add over 55,000 workers for the holidays.
The majority of FedEx’s new jobs in Middletown, and throughout the U.S., will be seasonal package handlers, although other opportunities will be available. Additional positions will be added as needed, officials said.

Last month, FedEx launched its $220 million package-collection and distribution hub in Aetna’s former Middletown hilltop site with 550 employees.
The hub at 1000 Middle St. is FedEx Ground’s second in Connecticut, and is much larger than its 220,000-square-foot facility in Willington.
