Federal funds to benefit CT low-income solar

A $1.7 million grant from the U.S. Department of Energy will aid the expansion of efforts to provide solar panels to low-income homeowners in Connecticut and four other states, the Connecticut Green Bank announced.

The quasi-public agency will use its portion of the funds over the next three years to research the best ways to encourage solar adoption by those homeowners and to scale up existing efforts, which include a $5 million partnership with PosiGen.

The five states, who will determine their own research projects, will receive support and technical assistance from Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory and the National Renewable Energy Laboratory.

Other recipients include Rhode Island, Minnesota, New Mexico, Oregon and the District of Columbia.
