Connecticut’s unemployment rate remained flat at a seasonally adjusted 4.6 percent in February, while adding 2,600 net jobs, according to the state Department of Labor.
The job gains last month were led by private sector employment, with 2,500 jobs added, which shows a marginal percentage increase from January, DOL said.. The largest drop, meanwhile, was in “professional and business services,” with a loss of 1,000 jobs, or a decrease of 0.5 percent.
DOL said there were an estimated 86,900 people unemployed during the month on a seasonally adjusted basis, an uptick of 100 from January.
Over the year, nonfarm employment in the state is up by 8,100 jobs.
Job growth in 2017 outpaced 2016, with the state adding a seasonally adjusted 7,700 jobs, up from 5,000 in 2016, DOL said.
DOL said Connecticut has regained more than 82 percent of the 119,100 seasonally adjusted jobs lost in the recession from March 2008 to Feb. 2010.
