Fast-casual restaurant proposed for Enfield shopping plaza

A fast-casual restaurant specializing in halal cuisine is proposed for a vacant storefront in Enfield’s State Line Plaza, according to an application filed with town planners.

Shah’s Halal Food would occupy a suite at 130 Elm St., in a space attached to the south side of AutoZone and north of Costco.

The application is listed under new business on the Planning and Zoning Commission’s Sept. 24 agenda.

Applicant Waseem Mudasar, of East Longmeadow, Massachusetts, is seeking administrative site plan approval for the restaurant. The property owner is listed as Freshwater MZL LLC.

Plans call for an indoor dining area, kitchen and restrooms. The restaurant would employ 11 people and operate daily from 10 a.m. to midnight, according to the application.

In a Sept. 24 report to the commission, town planning staff said the proposal meets zoning regulations because restaurant uses have previously been approved on the property, the plaza has sufficient parking and all proposed work would be inside the building.

The plaza’s existing food establishments include Buffalo Wild Wings, Panera Bread and Miracle Shakes and More, according to the staff report.
