The Town of Farmington has signed with a Massachusetts energy company to implement $3.7 million in efficiency measures at town facilities.
The improvements performed by Ameresco, Inc. of Framingham, Mass. are expected to save $245,000 annually over the life of the 16-year contract.
The measures at 22 town facilities include retrofitting 7,100 lighting fixtures, integrating a new Web-based management system, repair 290 steam traps, replacing air handling units, installing energy efficient boilers and increasing controls on vending machines, air conditioners and classroom televisions.
Through the contract, Ameresco will handle the upfront cost of the upgrades while Farmington will pay back the money over time through its energy savings.
