Farmington Savings expanding into Glastonbury

Farmington Savings Bank said today the Glastonbury planning and zoning commission has cleared the opening of its first branch east of the Connecticut River.

Pending regulatory approvals, its newest branch at 669 Hebron Ave. is expected to open in the first quarter of 2010.

The community bank’s 13th branch will offer a complete line of consumer and business financial products and services from 7:30 a.m. to 7 p.m.

“The new branch location on Hebron Avenue is a very accessible and well-known location in Glastonbury, which is an important first step in introducing ourselves to the community,” said John J. Patrick, Jr., chairman, president and CEO of the bank.

The eastward expansion is part of an overall growth strategy announced earlier this year. It includes a new 53,000-square-foot corporate headquarters in Farmington, an expanded senior leadership team, and the addition of government-banking and cash-management services to its business portfolio.

With more than $1.2 billion in assets and 12 branches throughout central Connecticut, the lender received regulatory approval last week to shorten its name to Farmington Bank, effective in October or November.
