Editor’s Note: A previous version incorrectly idenitified Ed Jarrett as from East Granby.
Canton artist Ed Jarrett has been certified as the world record holder for erecting a Farmington sand castle that stands 37 feet, 10 inches — breaking his previous mark.
Guinness World Records says it certified Jarrett’s Castle at Winding Trails in Farmington as the World’s Tallest Sandcastle.
Jarrett has now twice broken his record, which was 31 feet, six inches back in 2007.
More than 1,500 volunteers more than 2,500 work hours to hand pack 1.6 million pounds of sand and water and to build it, he said.
The fundraising event for Save Walton Pond at Winding Trails, Special Olympics Connecticut, Gifts of Love, New Horizons, and UConn Children’s Cancer Fund continues with public views of the castle available for $10 per car into Winding Trails.
