Farmers to get $500K

Nutmeg State farmers are expected to get about $500,000 grants-in-aid for expanding their farms under a proposal expected to be approved by the State Bond Commission next Friday. The grants will be up to $40,000 each, with farmers at least matching the amount they receive. Gov. M. Jodi Rell said she hopes the grants will keep state farms working for the next 10 years, and the projects will improve the farmers’ cash flow, and in turn strengthen the economy and create new jobs.
