Long-time Hartford realty pro Bill Farley was recently honored by about 300 Hartford community leaders and friends during a fundraising dinner and roast that benefitted Journey Home, a nonprofit working to end chronic homelessness in the region.
Farley was recognized for his lifelong commitment to his community.
Over his 53 year career, Farley held leadership roles in numerous nonprofit organizations serving the needs of people in the Hartford region. The list includes House of Bread, Greater Hartford Prayer Breakfast, Hartford Seminary, St. Elizabeth House, local colleges and universities, and municipalities.
CT Firms Named Most Effective Workplaces
Three Connecticut companies have received the 2014 “When Work Works Award” for their use of flexibility and effective workplace strategies to increase business and employee success. The Human Resource Association of Central Connecticut in partnership with the Families and Work Institute and the Society for Human Resource Management recognized the following companies: The Hartford, Hartford; KPMG LLP, Hartford; and OpenSky Corp., Tolland.
The When Work Works Award recognizes organizations that foster a culture of workplace flexibility and effectiveness, which gives them a competitive advantage.
UTC’s research center wins two R&D 100 awards
United Technologies Corp.‘s research arm was recently awarded two R&D 100 awards by R&D Magazine for two breakthrough eco-friendly technologies: the EcoTuff corrosion inhibitor and a portable aluminum deposition system.
The R&D 100 awards recognize the 100 top technological innovations of the year and were recently handed out in Las Vegas. United Technologies Research Center’s two award-winning technologies were honored for how they will reshape the way the aerospace industry and other market sectors deal with aircraft corrosion, making the work non-toxic and significantly more cost efficient.
Pullman & Comley Attorneys Named to CT Super Lawyers and Rising Stars Lists
Twenty-four attorneys from Pullman & Comley LLC were recently named to the Connecticut Super Lawyers list for 2014. In addition, seven of the firm’s attorneys were named to Super Lawyers Connecticut Rising Stars 2014 list. Gary B. O’Connor, James Shearin and Diane W. Whitney were named to the 2014 Top 50 Connecticut Super Lawyers list for receiving the highest point totals in the Connecticut nominator, research and blue ribbon review process.
Shearin and Whitney were also named to the “Top Ten” list; Shearin was named as the highest ranked attorney and Whitney was named as the highest ranked woman attorney on the list.
