Main Street Sports Group LLC plans to permanently close its Southport facility, a move that will affect 44 workers in Connecticut.
Main Street Sports Group LLC, the parent company of FanDuel Sports Network and operator of regional sports networks that televise NBA, NHL and MLB games, plans to permanently close its Southport facility, a move that will affect 44 workers in Connecticut, according to a notice filed with state and local officials.
In a Feb. 13 letter to the Connecticut Department of Labor and Fairfield officials, the company said employee separations tied to the closure of its facility at 2960 Post Road will begin during a 14-day period starting April 14. The action is expected to be permanent and will include both on-site and remote workers.
The filing follows recent reporting by Sports Business Journal that Main Street has initiated a broader winddown process. The publication reported the company issued WARN notices to employees and is considering multiple scenarios, including operating through the end of the NBA and NHL regular seasons, reaching an agreement with a strategic partner or potential liquidation.
Main Street has said, according to Sports Business Journal, that FanDuel Sports Network broadcasts will continue while discussions about the company’s future proceed.
The company has announced office closures in other cities, including Minneapolis and St. Louis, according to published reports.
