Falling CT gas prices still above $4

The AAA auto club says the average price of regular gas in Connecticut is dropping toward $4 a gallon again, but it’s still the second highest in the country behind Hawaii’s price, The Associated Press reports.

Regular gas in Connecticut is now averaging $4.02 a gallon, down from $4.06 a week ago and down from this year’s high of $4.28 in May. AAA says the national average was $3.66 a gallon on Monday.

Connecticut and Hawaii are the only two states with average prices above $4 a gallon for regular. Hawaii’s average is $4.15.

AAA says Connecticut’s price was $3.93 a month ago and $2.90 a year ago. The all-time state high was $4.39 in July 2008.

Oil prices are at their lowest level of the year after the U.S. credit rating was downgraded.
