Fairfield’s Acme United Corp. says it received a new titanium coating patent that it will incorporate into production of school- and office supplies.
The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office issued Acme patent No. 8,245,407B2.
The company said the utility patent covers a broad range of titanium coating compositions and thicknesses which enhance the wear resistance and hardness of cutting edges. International patent applications have been filed.
Chairman and CEO Walter C. Johnsen said the next generation titanium technology will be applied to production of its high volume scissors, pencil sharpeners, paper trimmers, and knives.
