Fairfield University gets OK from Texas nursing board for Austin campus

Fairfield University’s new nursing campus in Austin, Texas, got approval from the Texas Board of Nursing to launch its healthcare programs, the university announced Monday.

The board awarded program approval to the Texas outpost of Fairfield’s Marion Peckham Egan School of Nursing and Health Studies.

Nursing school Dean Meredith Wallace Kaze said, “We are honored to do our part by expanding access to Fairfield’s exceptional baccalaureate nursing program and confident that the residents of Texas will benefit greatly from the care of Fairfield-educated nurses.”

Fairfield’s Austin campus will offer a full-time, 15-month accelerated second-degree baccalaureate nursing program, with the first cohort of students scheduled to be admitted in May and a second to begin in January 2024.

The university’s Austin facility houses classrooms and simulated intensive care unit and surgical suite labs.
