Fairfield top undergrad business school in CT

Last October, Fairfield University was rated the best school in Connecticut for starting salaries. Now it has been ranked the best undergraduate business school in the state.

Bloomberg did a study of the best U.S. undergraduate business schools, ranking Fairfield No. 1 in Connecticut with an overall national ranking of 43rd.The school jumped 15 spots from last year’s rankings.

The other Connecticut business schools on the list were:

  • University of Connecticut, 72, with 56.47 points;
  • Quinnipiac University, 91, with 46.95 points;
  • Scared Heart University, 92, with 46.67 points;
  • University of Hartford, 101, with 39.26 points; and,
  • U.S. Coast Guard Academy, 104, with 37.03 points.

Bloomberg weighted its rankings this way:

  • Employer survey (40 percent of total score): Feedback from recruiters who hire recent business graduates on how well schools prepared students for jobs at their companies.
  • Student survey (35 percent): Students’ own ratings of the campus, career services department, and faculty and administrators.
  • Starting salary (15 percent): The base compensation of students who had jobs lined up, adjusted for salary variation across industries and regions.
  • Internship (10 percent): The percentage of a school’s graduates who had at least one internship at any time during college.
