Avon electronic health benefits vendor Evolution 1 added former UnitedHealth CEO Robert J. Sheehy to its board of directors.
Former Evolution Benefits, merged in July with former Minnesota health savings accounts manager Lighthouse 1 to create Evolution1.
Avon serial entrepreneur Robert J. Patricelli, who founded Evolution Benefits, also has a board seat.
Evolution1 serves more than seven million consumers, 50,000 employers, and 400 administrators, health plans and financial institution partners. The company employs more than 250 people and has offices in Avon, North Dakota, Minnesota and Missouri.
Sheehy served with UnitedHealth Group for more than 20 years, from 1986 to 2008, becoming CEO of UnitedHealthcare in 2000.
Sheehy currently serves on strategic advisory board of Genstar Capital – one of Evolution 1’s major investors — and advises the firm in the area of healthcare services.
He also is a director of home-health care provider Univita and as an independent director for startup Kips Bay Medical Inc., both in Minnesota. He is an active advisor and speaker in the healthcare industry.
