Richard Suter, an Army veteran who was an executive at Hartford Financial Services Group Inc., has joined Ohio’s Great American Insurance Group to oversee marketing in its captive insurance division.
Suter said Friday he will telecommute to his job as Great American’s divisional vice president from his Southington home.
Cincinnati-based Great American has operations in Windsor.
Suter is a 1984 graduate of West Point. After serving as an Army captain, he graduated from Temple University’s Beasley School of Law. He practiced law privately for several years before joining Midwest insurer St. Paul as an underwriter,

He spent the past eight years as assistant vice president for The Hartford, overseeing its captive and specialty programs division.
