Ex-Perez aide Hennessey runs lobbying firm

Matthew Hennessy, former chief of staff to Hartford’s embattled mayor, is now running a lobbying firm.

Hennessy, who served as Mayor Eddie Perez’s chief advisor for eight years before announcing his resignation in August, will now lead Tremont Public Advisors as the firm’s managing director.

Monday officially was Hennessy’s last day on the job as Perez’s chief of staff.

According to Tremont’s Web site, the company has Hartford offices at 750 Main St. and in Washington D.C. to assist corporations and organizations in shaping public policy.

The Web site describes Hennessy as “an experienced senior government executive and respected political advisor and strategist,” who has counseled and managed numerous successful federal and local political campaigns and candidates.

Besides working for Perez, Hennessy also served as an aide to Sen. Joseph Lieberman.
