Rhode Island lender Washington Trust hired former Middletown banker Timothy M. Pickering to plumb commercial mortgage deals in Connecticut and Westchester County, N.Y.
An Essex resident, Pickering will be senior vice president of commercial real estate, the same title he had at Citizens Bank in Middletown. He was with Citizens 15 years.
He will team with Suzanne Walsh, another Washington vice president assigned to prospect the Connecticut market for refinancing, acquisition, redevelopment and construction loans covering multi-family, retail, office, industrial and hotels.
Pickering also has more than 12 years of commercial real estate lending experience with former BankBoston, Citytrust, and the Irving Trust Co.
He has an economics degree from University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business. He serves on the board of the Essex Historical Society and is a former board member of the Nehemiah Housing Corp. He is also a volunteer for Habitat for Humanity and the Shoreline Soup Kitchen.
