Ex-ESPN exec Ryan new CBA head

Former ESPN programming exec Michael P. Ryan is the new president of the Connecticut Broadcasters Association, effective immediately.

Ryan, 53, succeeds Mike Rice, who is retiring at year end. Rice, a former radio station owner and broadcast engineer, becomes the Windham association’s vice president and will aid in the management transition, the CBA said Thursday.

Ryan most recently was vice president for programming and acquisitions for Bristol’s ESPN and ESPN Radio.

Prior to ESPN, Ryan was a vice president with Prime Network, a sports content provider that was a joint venture between Cablevision and Liberty Media. Before Prime, Ryan was with the New York Mets, where he oversaw the Mets’ television, radio, cable, and video interests.

Ryan lives in Avon, where he is president of the Avon Little League.
