A former state Department of Transportation supervisor paid a $3,000 ethics fine for breaching the state’s “revolving door” rule, authorities say.
Ryan O’Hara, of New Haven, was sanctioned after taking a job with a Cheshire engineering firm assigned to a state traffic project in Newington within one year of leaving his DOT job, the Office of State Ethics (OSE) said Friday.
O’Hara claimed the violation was inadvertent and he, along with his employer, cooperated with state ethics investigators, OSE said.
Dena Castricone, chair of the state’s Citizen’s Ethics Advisory Board, said state workers accepting private-sector employment can and should reach out to OSE for guidance on the state’s ethics rules.
