Eversource Energy on Thursday named Don Scacco, a 30-year company veteran, as its next president of Connecticut Electric Operations.

He succeeds Steve Sullivan, who is retiring.
Scacco, who serves as vice president of electric field operations in Connecticut, will take over the role July 6, the utility announced. He will oversee electric operations and system maintenance across the state while leading a cross-functional team focused on customers, communities and stakeholders.
Scacco, a Connecticut resident who lives in the Greater Waterbury area, spent his career at Eversource, holding leadership roles in the utility’s distribution and transmission businesses, as well as in engineering and customer operations. He was involved in the company’s response to several major storms, including the 2011 storms, Superstorm Sandy and Tropical Storm Isaias.
Scacco said he plans to focus on reliability, storm restoration performance and affordability in his new role.
Eversource Chairman, President and CEO Joe Nolan cited Scacco’s long tenure with the company and storm response experience in announcing the leadership change.
Sullivan, who has spent nearly four decades at the utility, became the first president of Connecticut Electric Operations in 2021. The position was created as part of a settlement with the state over Eversource’s handling of Tropical Storm Isaias the previous summer, a measure intended to increase local control over the company’s Connecticut operations, paired with a requirement to add Connecticut representatives to Eversource’s governing board.
During his tenure, Sullivan oversaw multiple major storm restorations, expanded engagement with municipal and emergency management leaders and supported electric lineworker training programs at local community colleges, according to Eversource. He has also been involved in community partnerships with the Special Olympics and United Way.
Scacco earned his undergraduate degree from St. Anselm College in New Hampshire and his graduate degree from the Mercy College School of Business in New York.
Eversource, which is publicly traded, has 1.3 million electricity customers in 157 Connecticut cities and towns and provides natural gas to 256,000 customers in 85 communities.
