Eversource Energy paid $13 million for a large office building in Windsor which it had previously leased.
Rocky River Realty, a subsidiary that handles real estate for Eversource, bought the 148,415-square-foot building on 19.4 acres at 1985 Blue Hills Ave. Extension in Windsor on Nov. 29, according to town land records.
The property was sold by Indus Development I, a Bloomfield-based limited liability company connected to New York City-based Indus Realty Trust. The industrial-leasing company has its origins in Connecticut’s tobacco fields and changed its name from Griffin Industrial Realty this year, according to its website.
Indus filed a notice of termination of lease concurrent with the land sale.
Eversource has leased the property, which it uses for a call center, since 2004, according to Al Lara, a company spokesman. Eversource has also hosted the Connecticut Special Olympics Winter Games at the property for years, Lara said.Â
The lease allowed for periodic renewals or a purchase, Lara said. Given plans to continue operations at the site for the long term and its successful track record as a venue for the Special Olympics, Eversource opted for a purchase, Lara said.Â
