Eversource asks for lower supply rate

The average Connecticut resident who buys electricity from Eversource Energy would save $31 a month, if state regulators approve the utility’s request to lower its supply rate, the company said.

With wholesale electricity prices falling from their winter highs, Eversource — formerly Northeast Utilities — has asked to reduce its standard service rate from 12.42 cents to 8.25 cents.

The new rate, which is separate from Eversource’s delivery rate, would apply to 801,000 customers as of July 1.
