Events venue, salon proposed for empty space on Silas Deane Highway in Wethersfield

A developer is proposing to convert part of a multi-use commercial building in Wethersfield into a banquet hall that will be named Euphoria Loft Event Venue.

A public hearing is set for Tuesday night during the Planning and Zoning Commission meeting that starts at 7 p.m.

The applicant, West Hartford-based Virgins Enterprise LLC, is seeking a special permit to open the events space at 898 Silas Deane Highway. Dylon Virgin, of East Hartford, is listed as the principal of the business.

Euphoria Loft Event Venue would occupy 2,100 square feet of the plaza, which totals 9,100 square feet and includes a State Farm office. The building is next to City Fish Market.

The events space would span 1,600 square feet, with a capacity for about 100 people, plus 500 square feet of storage.

The applicant describes it as “a luxurious and versatile venue,” ideal for hosting corporate seminars, intimate gatherings, wedding receptions, birthdays and other celebrations.

The main hours of operation would be 3 p.m. to midnight, Friday through Sunday. During the week, the hours of operation will depend on bookings.

According to plans submitted to the town, the main event hall will contain 12 round banquet tables with 72 chairs, five rectangular tables for conferences or workshops and a stage or podium for speakers, presentations or entertainment. Audio visual equipment and surround sound will be provided.

There are “cozy lounge” areas with “comfortable seating and beautiful backdrops,” the application says, along with a kitchenette in the rear of the building.

The venue will have dedicated 52 parking spaces, with additional parking nearby.

Another applicant, O.R Enterprise LLC, also based in West Hartford, is seeking zoning approval to convert an empty section of 898 Silas Deane Highway into a salon, waiting area and offices. The business will be named Opulent Retreat Salon & Suites.

The principal of O.R Enterprise LLC is Oniellia Robinson of Hartford.

According to the application, O.R Enterprise would turn 4,000 square feet on the second floor of the building into 16 suites for beautician and esthetician services.

O.R Enterprise has applied for a change of use permit, but a public hearing has not yet been scheduled.
