Esty to host CT energy efficient audit

In order to draw attention to Connecticut’s energy efficiency programs, Daniel Esty, the commissioner of the Department of Environmental Protection, will host an energy audit of his home on Monday.

Esty has scheduled a Home Energy Solutions visit for his Cheshire home. The program run through the Connecticut Energy Efficiency Fund sends energy auditors into private residences to look for ways a home can better use its energy. The audit includes lighting and weatherization upgrades.

For $75, any Connecticut ratepayer can schedule a Home Energy Solutions audit, which is valued at $750. Just from the lighting and weatherization improvements, homeowners can expect $200 in annual energy savings.

The Connecticut Energy Efficiency Fund has several program similar to Home Energy Solutions available to businesses.
