The Essex Meadows retirement community has received LEED gold certification from the U.S. Green Building Council for its various sustainable upgrades.
The Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design program honors buildings for the way they are constructed, renovated, and operated according to a preset list of guidelines. Essex Meadows, a 318,936-square-foot facility, received the gold certification for its lighting upgrades, solar array, geothermal heating, low-flow plumbing, and an ozone injection system.
Essex Meadows first opened in 1988.
