ESPN to relocate 35 jobs from LA to Bristol amid change to ‘SportsCenter’ programming

Bristol-based sports media giant ESPN has announced it’s ending the production of its ‘SportsCenter’ shows in Los Angeles and relocating the work to its main Bristol campus.

The move will add approximately 35 jobs in Bristol, where ESPN employs about 3,600 people, and where SportsCenter was originally founded.

Every LA-based employee impacted by the move is being given an opportunity to relocate to Bristol, ESPN said in a statement.

“Based on our current business needs, we are relocating the LA-based SportsCenter and soccer studio shows to ESPN’s Bristol headquarters, including the limited number of employee positions related to these shows,” ESPN said in a statement. “The Los Angeles Production Center will continue to host ESPN’s NBA studio productions and provide office space to additional LA-based employees.”

ESPN began broadcasting editions of its “SportsCenter” show from L.A. in 2009.
