Bristol sports programmer ESPN will keep the venerable Monday Night Football franchise for another eight NFL seasons.
Described as the most successful series in sports media history, 41-year-old MNF will stay exclusively with ESPN through the 2021 season.
The deal also gives ESPN access to expanded NFL studio programming (coinciding with this week’s launch of the 2011 pro football season), highlight rights for TV and ESPN.com, the Pro Bowl, the NFL Draft, 3D rights, and enhanced international rights.
Financial terms between ESPN and the National Football League were not disclosed Thursday.
Originally launched on ESPN’s sister network ABC in 1970, MNF has been with ESPN since the 2006 NFL season.
