Sports broadcaster ESPN announced Wednesday it will contribute $1 million toward construction of a new Boys and Girls Club and Family Center in Bristol.
The proposed 38,000-square-foot facility will include education and technology program, a teen center, arts and crafts, and a variety of athletic events. It replaces an 85-year-old building.
ESPN previously donated $400,000 in 2009 for land acquisition for the center.
George Bodenheimer, ESPN executive chairman, who made the announcement, is an honorary chairman of the capital campaign for the Boys and Girls Club and Family Center and is an alumnus of a Boys and Girls Club.
