EPA studying proposed Sound disposal sites

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency is preparing a supplemental environmental impact statement for disposal sites in eastern Long Island Sound.

The statement will evaluate the potential designation of one or more dredged material disposal sites in Long Island Sound. EPA will meet with a wide range of stakeholders in Connecticut, New York, and Rhode Island about the possible disposal sites.

EPA will host a meeting from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday at 10-84 Shennecossett Road in Groton to discuss the environmental impact. A previous scheduled meeting for Nov. 15 in Port Jefferson, N.Y. has been postponed due to Hurricane Sandy.
