EPA grants $143,938 to CT for healthy schools

Connecticut will receive $143,938 in grant funding from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to promote health school environments.

Connecticut is one of five states splitting $750,000 in grant funding along with Minnesota, New York, Ohio, and Wisconsin.

The Connecticut Department of Health will use the money to aid and expand a statewide comprehensive group effort to address school environmental quality problems such as asthma and allergen triggers, and harmful pesticides.

Around 170 Connecticut schools will be helped by the program, particularly in urban areas and at technical high schools.
