Entertainment biz shutters in W. Hartford’s Blue Back Square

Skeleton Key, an escape-room entertainment business, has ended operations in West Hartford’s Blue Back Square after debuting there just over a year ago.

The business, which launched at 61 Raymond Road in July 2018, held its final games on Sunday in West Hartford and at its other location in Lynnfield, Mass., according to an announcement posted on its website

Skeleton Key’s associated restaurant, Deadbolt Spirits & Fare, has also closed in the West Hartford retail corridor. It was not immediately clear Monday when exactly the restaurant ended operations or how many employees were impacted by the closures.

The announcement said all post-dated reservations have been contacted and will receive a full refund.

“We want to thank all of our managers, staff, and loyal customers who have joined us for any and all of our three games over the past year,” the statement said. “You all made this journey possible, and even though it is ending sooner than we would have liked, we appreciate your patronage and support nonetheless.”

West Hartford’s Blue Back Square has now lost at least two tenants in the last four months.

In July, The Cook and the Bear restaurant also permanently closed its doors there after just two years in operation.
