Precision Camera & Video Repair Inc. in Enfield is laying off 234 of its more than 500 workers in town as it moves work to plants in Texas and Mexico, according to published reports.
According to The Journal Inquirer, Precision Camera’s job cuts come only four years after the company persuaded the town to approve a property tax break for a 9,360-square-foot expansion of its plant at 7 Anngina Drive that would add 45 jobs over three years.
The Enfield location will end up with about 200 people, The Hartford Courant reports, citing the town’s economic development director, who said he was briefed by the company.
Precision Camera declined to comment Wednesday on the published reports, saying detailed information will be posted on its homepage.
However, the company told The Courant that in 2010 the workforce there ranged between 400 and 600.
