Stealing more than $9 million in economic stimulus program funds in 2010 and 2011 has landed a former Glastonbury resident 13 months in prison.
In February, Walter C. Bradway, 65, pleaded guilty to taking advantage of an energy incentive program contained within the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) of 2009. He reports to prison on July 18.
As owner of DataComm Services LLC, Bradway is alleged to have submitted more than 300 applications in 2010 and 2011 to ARRA’s Specified Energy Property Program, which paid for a portion of solar panel installations and other projects. The work was never completed and Bradway admitted to submitting false and exaggerated claims for higher reimbursements.
Bradway was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Alvin W. Thompson in Hartford to 13 months of imprisonment, followed by three years of supervised release, for fraudulently obtaining more than $9 million in economic stimulus program funds in 2010 and 2011. Judge Thompson also ordered to Bradway to perform 600 hours of community service.
In addition, Bradway must pay restitution in the amount of $8.9 million, which accounts for approximately $91,000 that he has paid to date.
