Energy efficiency summit coming to CT

The Northeast Energy Efficiency Partnership will host its premier annual event at the Stamford Hilton, showcasing the region’s efforts to reduce the overall cost of electricity and heating.

Because Connecticut’s electricity and heating costs are among the highest in the nation, the state wants to become a leader in the efficient use of energy, so businesses and residents lower their costs by using less. Connecticut ranked No. 9 in 2011 for energy efficiency, according to the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy, down from No. 3 two years ago.

Massachusetts, New York, Vermont and Rhode Island all rank higher than Connecticut.

At the Northeast Energy Efficiency Summit at the Hilton Stamford in June, NEEP will lay out the business case for efficiency, focusing on how to use programs to stimulate the economy, create jobs, decrease energy costs, and reduce carbon footprint.

The event is expected to draw 300-400 people from around the country, mostly from the Northeast.
