Energy efficiency boosts profile

While the Connecticut Energy Efficiency Fund seeks to increase its profile with homeowners and businesses, a regional energy efficiency movement announced a new business partnership.

The state Energy Efficiency Fund participated in the Connecticut Home and Remodeling Show last weekend in Hartford to highlight ways state residents can reduce their carbon footprint.

Last week, the CEEF also honored six middle school and high school finalists for developing sustainable processes for the Connecticut Science Fair in Hamden: Deanna Guiliani from Woodstock Middle School; Eric Smith from The Montessori Middle School in Norwalk; Maura Oei from Oei Homeschool in Hebron; Theresa Oei from East Catholic High School in Manchester; Bridget Oei from East Catholic High School in Manchester; and Kyle Ryan from Fairfield College Preparatory School.

The fund also recognized the U.S. Coast Guard Academy in New London for making installing efficient lighting, heating and cooling systems savings $2.3 million over the life of the products.
