Construction-repair contracting giant Emcor Group Inc. in Norwalk is paying $255 million cash for one of the nation’s biggest facilities maintenance vendors.
Emcor is buying USM Services Holdings Inc., based in Norristown, Pa., from Transfield Services Ltd. in a deal due to close in June.
USM competes with, among others, Harford’s FM Facility Maintenance, a private vendor that does commercial cleanup and other maintenance for offices, stores and restaurants nationwide.
USM has some 150 customers in more than 75,000 locations in all 50 states and Canada, and has annual revenues of about $375 million, Emcor says.
