A local electrical company owner is looking to build a multi-tenant industrial contractor storage facility on his East Street South property in Suffield.
Kevin Deming owns the 2.3-acre property at 1300 East St., South, which includes a building used as the offices and storage space for Deming Electric.
Deming is proposing a one-story, 12-bay storage facility to be rented by trades workers such as plumbers, electricians, roofers and other small construction-related business owners seeking storage space.
Each unit will include a 120-square-foot office, 25-square-foot restroom and 30-foot by 60-foot storage space with a garage door.
Town officials said a special permit and site plan modification approval by the Planning and Zoning Commission are required to add this new usage.
The property also contains areas for storing trucks, trailers and construction equipment.
Previously, this site served as a mulch yard, with truck traffic throughout the day, according to the application.
The plans will go before the commission at its next meeting this month.
